You need to wear glasses. That is really not the death sentence that you may have originally thought. There are so many different glasses today, that you can definitely find something that not only works with your lifestyle, but that also looks fantastic. You simply need to know a few things to help you to choose the perfect pair of eyeglasses for you.

The Care and Maintenance of Your Eyeglasses

With your new prescription eye glasses in hand you are now bound and determined to take extra good care of them. This is understandable since they could cost you quite a bit of money to fix or even replace them if anything goes wrong with them. There are some steps that you can follow in order to help your eyeglasses to survive every day and still be in fantastic shape.

Daily Care

When you must wear your eye glasses daily, and in most cases constantly all day long, it makes sense that smudges and dust will get onto the lenses. You do not want to use a regular cloth or even a paper towel or tissue to wipe at them. Your lenses may be tough, but even scratch resistant lenses are not impervious to tiny dust particles and harsh materials. Most glasses do come with a fantastic polishing cloth that is meant for these daily touch ups. These polishing cloths are made of a special material that is extremely soft and gentle on eyeglass lenses. As long as they are kept clean, this cloth will not scratch or mar any special coatings that have been placed on the lenses. You use this polishing cloth by simply gently rubbing the lenses in a circular motion.

Deep Cleaning

There are occasions when simply polishing the lenses of your eyeglasses is not enough. There are safe methods that you can use to deep clean your eye glasses as well. If they become especially dusty, grimy, or even sweaty, a gentle bath will do your eyeglasses a lot of good. You would first put a little bit of mild dish soap into lukewarm water. If you use water that is too cold, the cleaning effects will not be optimal, but on the other hand if you use water that is too warm, you could damage both the lenses and the frames. After swishing your eye glasses in this soapy bath, then rinse them off in running warm water. Next, spray a quality plastic eyeglass lens cleaner and rub your fingers over the lenses to make sure that you feel no dirt or grime. Once you feel sure that your eyeglasses are grit free, then dry them with a soft cotton cloth. Make sure to use a downward motion so that you do not cause any accidental damage to the nose pads.
